Rohan is a passionate entrepreneur on a mission to make our world better through maps and location technologies. At the age of 19, he created India’s very first interactive mapping portal – mapmyindia.com. This was a critical juncture for MapmyIndia, which brought the brand into the consumer domain. Prior to that the company was doing well but was restricted to the B2B space. With the launch of India’s first navigable digital maps, for the first time, Indians understood the power and utility of Maps. And in the decade and a half since, this would change the way Indians travel. With his insights and enterprise Rohan has been able to transform MapmyIndia from a digital mapping company to a ‘Deep Technology’ powerhouse. The recent recognition of MapmyIndia’s flagship super app ‘Move’, as the best app in its category, at the Aatmanirbhar India App Challenge is a testimony to this transformation. Through his 16+ year experience in the geospatial industry at various stages of its evolution, he has focused on bringing significant benefits of maps and location technologies to individuals, businesses and governments. Under his stewardship, MapmyIndia has been bringing indigenously developed best-in-class cutting-edge technologies to the Indian geospatial industry, including India’s best GPS Navigation system, Advanced Maps & APIs that can power safer self-driving cars, powerful GPS based IoT devices, valuable location-enabled Enterprise SaaS and delightful consumer apps. And all this hasn’t gone unnoticed for many awards and recognitions have followed. Being a visionary, Rohan believes that there is limitless potential in location technology to make the lives of millions of people better. He is frequently called upon by various leading industry fora to share his views on transformative technologies, location tech, entrepreneurship, how to make India self-reliant and other issues of national importance. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Stanford University, USA and an MBA from London Business School. In his current roles as CEO and Executive Director at MapmyIndia, Rohan is driving corporate strategy/growth, sales/marketing, product and technology/innovation.
